ATTENDANCE

Absence

Parents should notify the school of any known possible absences. If your child is not attending school will you please contact the school by 10 a.m. especially if your child has a school meal, as these need to be ordered by 10 o’clock. If by 11 a.m. we have received no explanation for absence, we will be ringing you. If we cannot reach you within 48 hours we will send a letter. If we then receive no reply within 3 days the matter is passed to the Education Welfare Officer. On returning to school (unless you have already contacted us by telephone) please send a note explaining the reason for the absence. Failure to notify the school in writing will mean that the absence is registered as unauthorised.

Lateness

Punctuality is a good habit for life. There may be occasions where lateness is unavoidable and parents should notify the school of this. Persistent lateness is unacceptable and is disruptive to your child, the teacher and the class. Any late arrival must report to the office.

Appointments

If children need to leave school to attend an appointment a note should be sent to the class teacher. We do not allow children to leave the school without being accompanied by an authorised adult. Parents collecting children should always report to the office.

Holidays

It is hoped that parents will try not to arrange for holidays to be taken during term time. However, if it is necessary to do so, a form available from the office must be completed and returned to school notifying the length of the absence, which legally should be no longer than two weeks.

It is particularly important for all children to attend school at the beginning of the Autumn term and Year 6 children during the week of their Key Stage 2 tests in May, and the main assessment task time for Year 2 children also in May.
