FOUNDATION AND KEY STAGE 1
Key Stage 1 is comprised of the pupils in Year 1 and Year 2. It refers to the stage of the National Curriculum that these age groups are working at. The early years of education are important in forming a child’s attitude to learning. The experiences given to the pupils build on what they already know and can do. Induction On acceptance of a place at Byfleet Primary School you will be sent details of our induction programme. We invite the children and parents into school for four afternoons and one morning, in the term prior to them starting school. The children go to the Reception classroom and work with the teacher who will be taking them the following term. The parents stay in the school hall and are given informal information about the school. One afternoon is individual appointments with the classteacher. Each week has a different focus: Starting Dates for School To enable us to settle the pupils in smaller groups we stagger the dates of the pupils starting school. Full-time Attendance Pupils born between 1st September - 31st December attend full time in the second week. Pupils born between 1st January - 30th April attend part-time for 3 days and full time by the end of the 3rd week. Pupils born between 1st May - 31st August attend part time until October half term after which they attend full time. These pupils will stay for lunch from early October. |
