SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

The school Special Needs Programme is run in accordance with the Code of Practice. Pupils can be identified as having Special Needs due to academic ability, behaviour or medical needs. If your child is identified as having Special Needs their name will be added to the school register. There are 5 stages on the register:

  • Level 1 is where a teacher expresses a concern about a child and they receive differentiated work to help their progress
  • School Action is where the child still is making slow progress and an individual education plan is written for the child. Support is given from an SNA in the classroom
  • School Action Plus is where we have to involve outside agencies to assess the child and give the school advice
  • Level 4 is where the pupil goes forward for formal assessments and is put forward for a statement of educational need
  • Level 5 is where the child has a statement of Educational need and a supporting SNA funded by Surrey County Council
