Welcome back to the Summer term. We hope you had a wonderful Easter break!
Our topic this term is ‘Kings and Queens’. As part of this topic the children will be learning about Our Royal Family and Kings and Queens from the past. As we are excited about the upcoming Royal Wedding we will be making cards for the newlyweds, designing wedding invitations and planning a Royal Banquet. If you have any resources, photographs or information on Kings, Queens and Castles, feel free to send this in to be shared with the class.
We will be visiting Windsor Castle as part of this topic where we can continue to consolidate learning about Kings, Queens and Castles. A letter with further details will be sent out.
In Maths, we will be continuing to focus on number bonds, reading and writing numbers up to 100 and addition and subtraction. We will be looking at fractions and developing mental maths. Mathletics homework will also continue to be set each week. Please help your child to complete these fun activities.
Please continue with the regular home reading and it is important that you discuss the books with your child and ask questions to help develop their comprehension skills.
The children will continue to receive weekly spellings which will have a particular rule or sound to learn. Encouraging the children to also practise these as part of a sentence will help them to remember the spelling and apply this to their writing.
Now Spring is here and the weather is warmer (Hurray!), summer uniform dresses and school shorts are appropriate. Please ensure children bring water and sunhats and apply sun cream before coming to school. Children can bring sun cream to school but must apply this themselves.
Please ensure that your child has named tracksuit bottoms/shorts, t-shirt/jumper and trainers in their P.E kit. We encourage children to take responsibility for their own belongings. It would be a huge help if you could continue to check that all items are named.
As we are in our last term we are encouraging the children to come into the classroom independently. To help with this we would ask parents to leave the children at the class gate in the mornings.
Keep checking the classroom windows for the latest show and tell rotation.
Later this year the children will be taking part in a Phonics SAT. We will send out details on how you can prepare your child at home. If you have any questions concerning this please feel free to talk to us.
We appreciate and thank you for your continued support.
