Welcome back to a new school year, we hope you had a wonderful summer break.
We have an exciting term ahead with our topics ‘UK Black History’ and ‘Explorers'. Throughout this term we will be learning lots about Mary Seacole, Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. We will be looking at differences between the past and present.
As part of the topic we will be using atlases and globes to look at the different continents and oceans.
Our Science topic this half term is Animals including Humans.
Children will be set homework every Friday to be completed by the following Friday. The children will have weekly spellings, please help them at home to learn them. Maths homework will continue to be set online on Mathletics. Children’s log in details can be found in the back of their reading record books. It is very important that children read at home on a regular basis and this needs to be recorded in their reading records and sent back to school on a daily basis.
PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure that all school uniform is named including PE kits. They will require tracksuits and trainers when the weather becomes cooler for PE lessons outside. PE kits need to come in on a Monday and will come home on a Friday.
Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day. Our library day is Thursday. If your child would like to change their library book, please ensure they bring it to school on this day.
Show and tell will be on a rotation and your child will be informed of the week they can bring in show and tell (please see window for details). Please can you ensure show and tell comes into school on Monday as it will be shown throughout the week. If your child has any topic related items or work to share with the class, this can be shared on any day of the week.
At home times, children cannot be released from our care unless we have seen the adult collecting the child from school. To ensure the safety of the children please inform us if your child is being collected by a different adult to usual. This can be written in your child’s reading record book.
I look forward to working with you and your child this. Please get in touch if you have any questions or queries, alternatively, please do write any queries in your child’s reading record book and I will respond as soon as possible. Meet the teacher will take place on Wednesday 19th September at 5.30pm, where I will share the expectations of the year ahead.
If you or a family member would like to volunteer, please inform the office as all help is greatly appreciated.
