Welcome to the start of a new school year.
I am writing to let you know what will be happening this term in year 4.
Our topic this term is The Romans. This is a very exciting history topic, and I look forward to making it alive for the children. We are looking forward to a trip to Butser Ancient Farm in October, in which the children will enjoy some ‘hands on’ experiences of Roman life, and we will be sending details of this to you shortly. Near the end of the topic, we would like to do a dress-up day, so start thinking about their Roman outfits!
In RE, we are learning about Hinduism and Diwali and hope to visit a Hindu temple too.
In Year 4, homework continues with English / topic in homework books and either Mathletics or a maths sheet set each week on a Friday, but needs to be returned on a WEDNESDAY please. There will be a spelling and a mental maths test every Friday. We appreciate your co-operation with this.
Our library day is now Thursday.
Children are expected to bring in their own healthy snack (no crisps/ chocolate/ nuts) for break times. The children also need a named water bottle every day.
Please also ensure they have a named PE kit, in school ALL week. Our PE days are Wednesday and Fridays. Please ensure earrings are removed for PE.
We will continue with Show and Tell on a Friday, on a rotation basis, but there is a theme for each time.
There will be a Meet the Teacher session Thursday 21st September at 6pm, in which I can outline the aspects of Year 4. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
