Safeguarding Statement
Our Safeguarding Statement
- Everyone at Byfleet is committed to safeguarding promoting children welfare.
- We expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment as our culture here is: Safeguarding is EVERYONE’S Responsibility.
- All of our policies outline our commitment to safeguarding, Including our Child Protection Policy, which is available on our website www.byfleet.surrey.sch.uk. These are reviewed regularly.
- Our children are reminded they can talk to any adult in school as we are all here to keep them safe.
- All staff regularly attend updates and have safeguarding training across the year.
- Key documents are: Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children, Online Safety and Prevent Strategy.
- We carry out safer recruitment - DBS checks, references and pre-internet searches of applicants and all staff have a safeguarding induction.
- We ensure our daily routines are safe: handover (start of day), transitions and end of day collection, reviewing and adapting these, based on each cohort’s needs.
- We ensure our classrooms, buildings, playgrounds and gates are in good working order, to keep us safe.
- We carry out regular fire drills, evacuation procedures & locks downs to know how to respond in an emergency.
- All adults at Byfleet Primary wear an id lanyard badge, and we encourage everyone to challenge anyone who is not wearing one.
- All adults at Byfleet Primary must sign in using our Inventry system. This way we know they have been checked and are safe.
- We share information and work with other agencies in the interest of safeguarding our children. We discuss this with parents/carers first, unless advised otherwise.
- All concerns are logged onto our comprehensive electronic system and are followed up diligently and in a timely manner.
- DSL’s respect the privacy and rights of families to remain confidential and will only share information on a needs-to-know basis, meaning we can provide the right support, in the interest of the child, as we take a child-centered approach.
