A message from the headteacher
Welcome to Byfleet! Thank you for visiting our website to find out more about our lovely village school. We are a busy but friendly school, with an ethos throughout of Learning, Caring and Sharing - Learning and safety are our core purposes and the children can learn knowledge and skills safely, and learn respect for themselves and for others, in an environment that is safe, calm and inviting. Our school is a happy place to learn and to work and we aim is to make the learning engaging with a level of challenge which encourages our pupils to develop resilience, independence and persistence, preparing our children for the next stage of their lives, so that they can thrive in the future. We have high expectations for everyone.
In May 2020, we were delighted to became a member of the EEEA Academy Trust, which brings much opportunity for growth and rewards for our pupils and staff.
We are a mixed day school with 247 on roll and the school has a privately run pre-school on site which takes children from the age of 2 and is open every day all day except Friday afternoon. The school is set in a green environment with a pond and nature area and a playing field. The grounds boast large playing fields, football pitches and outdoor climbing equipment, along with a large outdoor swimming pool, which the children benefit from. We have specialist sports coaches and peripatetic music teachers, providing high-quality provision. The school day is extended with exciting extra-curricular clubs, including wraparound care at the start and the end of the day to cater for our local families.
Our school has a positive reputation for celebrating every kind of achievement and we reflect this in our unity and in our weekly assemblies that highlight achievements both in and outside of school. My belief that 'it takes a village to raise a child' relies on strong collaboration between parents, staff, governors and the wider community; we welcome parents as partners so that we can promote together the high standards of learning, behaviour and attitudes to achieve the best for our children. We have great support from the parents' Friends association and we welcome parent helpers in all year round so please be in touch if you wish to support our thriving PTA.
Byfleet School is in the STARS partnership, a groups of local schools which organises shared initiatives that directly benefit children's learning. We co-operate on many areas across the school life and our aim is to improve our practice and to help others improve.
Thank you for visiting our website; please do also follow us on twitter @byfleetprimary to see a snapshot of what we get up to. We warmly welcome you to visit our lovely school, or if you have a query please feel free to contact the office directly.
As I commence as the new Headteacher in September 2020, I look forward to collaborating with you, to build a happy and successful relationship over the coming years, to ensure our Byfleet children get the best education they deserve.
Mrs Cheryl Meyrick, Headteacher
