Summer Newsletter

                                                April 2015
Dear Parents,
We are all looking forward to an exciting Summer Term.
Our topic this term is The Vikings. We will be looking at who the Vikings were, where they came from as well as how they lived and their significance in our history. On that theme we will be reading novels from The Grim Gruesome Viking Villain series by Rosalind Kerven.  We hope that you will enjoy hearing about what they are doing and possibly helping them with any research.
As part of this topic year 3 and 4 are having a Viking workshop on Thursday 7th May where the children will be able to explore different aspects of this period. We are hoping that everyone will come dressed as a Viking. I am sure the children will find this exciting and provide them with lots of information about this period. Details will be sent out when arrangements have been finalised.
P.E. is on Monday and Thursday. Please make sure that they have their equipment with them and it is clearly named. During the second half of the term children will take part in swimming. Please ensure that if your child wears studs that they are able to remove them themselves or preferably not wear them for those days.
In Science we will be finding out about Sound and Electricity.
Homework will include spellings, Maths and topic. It will be given out on Fridays and collected the following Wednesday. Please continue to encourage your child to read at home, practise their times tables and spellings on a regular basis; arrive at school at the right time and wear appropriate school uniform and footwear.
If you have any questions or concerns or would like to discuss anything about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me in order to arrange an appointment.
I am looking forward to another happy and successful term for all the children in the class. Thank you for all your support and help.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs L Wall
