The children have a Maths and English task set daily and one Topic, Science and Spellings task which can be completed at any point over the week. Please scroll down to find the weekly activities at the bottom of this page.

Daily Tasks:

Monday:

Maths: This week in Maths, we are going to recapping addition and subtraction. Today you will be completing a task on fact families and number bonds to 20. Please watch ‘Lesson 1- Fact families addition and subtraction bonds to 20’ (Summer Term- Week 3 w/c 4th May.) You can access the video using the link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/. Alongside the video, please complete the sheet provided below. As always, you can use any objects and/or pictures to help you.

English: Over the next two weeks you will be completing activities based on the book ‘Claude in the City by Alex T Smith’. Today you need to complete task 1: Predict it!

You can complete the task in your book or on the sheet provided below. Tomorrow I will show you the cover of the book. No peeking!

Tuesday:

Maths: Today you will be completing a task on comparing number sentences, using the symbols you used a couple of weeks ago (<, > and =.) Please watch ‘Lesson 2- Compare number sentences (Summer Term- Week 3 w/c 4th May.) You can access the video using the link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/. Alongside the video, please complete the sheet provided below. As always, you can use any objects and/or pictures to help you.

English: Today you are completing task 2: Explore it! You could answer the questions in your book or on the sheet provided. Try to answer the questions in full sentences. Don’t forget your capital letters and full stops.

Wednesday:

Maths: Today you will be completing a task on related facts. Please watch ‘Lesson 3- Related facts (Summer Term- Week 3 w/c 4th May.) As always, you can use any objects and/or pictures to help you.

English: Today you are completing task 3- Illustrate it! You can use the link below to draw along with author/illustrator Alex T. Smith to practise before you draw your own.

Thursday:

Maths: Today you will be completing a task on adding and subtracting. Please watch ‘Lesson 4- Add and subtract ones (Summer Term- Week 3 w/c 4th May.) You can access the video using the link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/. Alongside the video, please complete the sheet provided below. As always, you can use any objects and/or pictures to help you. Additionally, you could play a game set on Purple Mash. Will you win the race? Log in to play the game. Good luck!

English: Today you are completing task 4- Talk about it! You can complete the task in your book or on the sheet provided below. Try to answer the questions in full sentences. Don’t forget your capital letters and full stops.

Friday:

Maths: Today you are going to solve word problems by adding and subtracting tens and ones. Just like yesterday, you can draw a number line or base ten to help you work out the answers if needed.

Weekly tasks:

Spellings:

Your spellings this week are taken from the Year 1 and Year 2 Common Exception Word lists. Please chose the spelling list that best suits your child’s ability.

Practise your spellings daily using one of the activities from our school's spelling approach. You could even use chalk, paint or Lego!

Science:  

We are continuing with our Science topic on ‘Plants’.

 

This week we are going to think about all the different plants we eat. I know lots of you are growing your own fruit and vegetables at home which is wonderful.

What healthy meals do you enjoy eating? Can you design your own menu?

Topic:

We are continuing with our topic ‘Kings, Queens and Castles.’

 

This week you are going to researching about Queen Elizabeth I. Please use the links and PowerPoints provided to find out information about this strong, powerful Queen.

You can present your findings in any way you wish. It could be on a poster, a leaflet, a timeline or a PowerPoint.

PSHE & Wellbeing:

This week I would like you to think about what makes you happy. You could think about all the things and people that make you happy. It could be your pet, the sunshine or the sound of the birds tweeting. You can draw/write about all these things in your exercise or on the sheet provided below. I hope this activity puts a smile on your face.
