Continue to encourage your child to read daily and to complete a comment in their yellow reading record. You could also listen to extracts/stories. Here are some useful links below:
Please continue to practice times tables each day, using ‘Monster Multiplication’ on Purple Mash as a revision tool. Alternatively, you can practise your times tables using the Times Table Wheels which I have added to the Maths Resources section of the Year 5. These are paper copies and so therefore they are not under timed conditions.
This week I have added two separate sets of spellings: One group of words if your child was in Mrs Cooper’s/Mrs Wolniewicz’s Group (Set 1 Words) and another set if you were in Spelling Group A, B or C (Set 2 Words). If your child is unsure which group they were in, please email me on: email@example.com
Today'a lesson is a spelling focus lesson.
Please start by selecting your list of key spellings, then watch the relevant PowerPoint.
Next, practise your handwriting using the cursive prompt sheet.
To conclude the activity, complete the worksheet on the keywords.

Using the notes which you made about Kenya yesterday, produce a brochure, leaflet or fact sheet about Kenya.
Think about neat presentation and ways to layout your work effectively and in an interesting manner.
Share your findings by emailing your work into school on the homework email address.
Practise your spellings daily using a combination of the activities from our whole school spelling approach. You may choose to complete a spelling test on the Friday as we do in school.
There are Set One Words OR Set Two Words to revise this week, depending on the spelling group your child is in, as mentioned on the Monday English lesson explanation.
The focus this week for our spellings is: ‘Keywords’.
Please also complete the relevant wordsearch to consolidate the spellings for this week.
As part of our Science topic: ‘Properties and Changes of Materials’, please start by watching the PowerPoint on ‘Dissolving.
I realise that you might not have all the materials for this investigation but try to find out which ones are insoluble and which are soluble. If you cannot test all of them, predict which might be soluble and which will be insoluble. Perhaps you can research the answers on the Internet.
Can you set up the experiment and take photographs to send in your findings?
Or draw the results out in your Home Learning Book?
Perhaps you can involve another member of your house to assist?
I would love to see the results!
Watch the PowerPoint on ‘The Battle of Marathon’ and complete the activities in the order in which they appear in the slideshow.
First activity - Athens vs Sparta sorting of statements.
Second activity - Order the events of ‘The Battle of Marathon’.
Don’t forget that you can register for FREE to learn a new language on Duo Lingo. It has a range of simple activities and you can hear, read and see and say new words at your own speed. Follow: https://www.duolingo.com/learn and let me know how you get on and which language you have chosen.
The idea is that you use the website/App on a daily basis to build up your language skills.
See if you can maintain daily usage and get as any days as possible with no break in between!
I have managed a ‘6 day streak’ whilst learning Italian so far-can you beat me?!
