Phonics: Find the following sounds in your pack: m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b. Keep these separate from the rest of the pack this week. (Unless you want to find them each day as a challenge!)

c, k, u, b are the new focus sounds for this week.

Challenge: Let’s make some of ‘Fred’s words’ today. Here is a list of words you can make with your new sounds.

Maths: 'Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20'- (EYFS learning outcome)

Can you estimate how many objects are in my pictures? Write your guess down. Then check by carefully counting. Remember not to count the same object twice!


Challenge: This week we are focusing on a story called 'Room on the Broom’

Read the story with an adult and talk about what happens in the story. What are the characters like? Have a go at describing them!

Phonics- Practise reading the sounds of the week; m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b. How fast can you say them?

Today we are going to practise writing the sounds of the week. Look at the sound formation sheets to remind yourself where we begin each sound and the correct formation.

Challenge: Let’s have a go at writing ‘Fred’s words’ from Monday. Can you put them into a sentence?

Count to 20 with the number blocks Series 4 episode 14

Go on a hunt around your house. What things can you find to count? Do you have stairs? How many do you have?

How many windows do you have?

You can draw the object and write how many or ask your adult to take a video of you counting and upload it to evidence me.


Challenge: Room on the Broom- What is a witch and what do they need?

Using the cauldron template can you draw the things a person would need to be a witch

Look at the picture below of the witch from our story.

Phonics: Practise saying the sounds of the week as fast as you can. Remember if you make a mistake- place the sound back in the pile to try again!

Have a go at the coconut ordering game on top marks. First play with numbers to 10. If you find this easy have a go at numbers to 20.

Challenge: Our story this week has lots of rhyming words. Read the story with an adult or listen to it online. Can you say when you hear words that sound similar, these are rhyming words.

How fast can you say the sounds, ask a grown-up to time you- can you beat your time?

Today we are going to practise writing a sentence. Click the link below to find a picture to write about. I have given you an example. Remember to use your sounds carefully!

Using the number cards you made last week have a go placing them in order starting with 1. Then have a go at putting them in order counting backwards, starting with 20.

Ask a grown up to take away 2 numbers. Can you find out what numbers are missing? How did you know?


Challenge: Can you invent a broomstick for the witch

Use the template to design your broomstick. 

Can you find things around the house to make a broomstick for the witch? Maybe you can find things on your walk to use in your making!

Take a photo to share your creations!


Phonics: Review the sounds we have recently learnt; ay, ee, igh, ow, oo, oo, ar, or. Can you say the sounds as they are shown on the video?
