Week beginning: 4th May 2020

The children have a Maths and English task set daily and one Topic, Science and Spellings task which can be completed at any point over the week. Please scroll down to find the weekly activities at the bottom of this page.

 

As always, please encourage your child to read daily and complete their yellow reading record. I have set some Monster Multiplication on Purple Mash if the children would like to practise their times tables using the game – this is optional.

 

Monday:

Maths: This week, we are starting a new topic on ‘Decimals’. We are going to start by looking at tenths. Remember 1/10 = 10% = 0.1 Answers are included at the end of the powerpoint.

Use the place value grid and decimal number line to help you!

 

 

English: This week’s tasks are all based on an extract from a book called Varjak Paw by S.F Said.

Tuesday:

Maths: We are continuing with decimals and combining whole numbers and tenths.

e.g 1.3 is one one and 3 tenths

2.4 is 2 ones and 4 tenths

Answers are included at the end of the powerpoint.

English: This week’s tasks are all based on an extract from a book called Varjak Paw by S.F Said.

Wednesday:

Maths: We are continuing with decimals and writing tenths. Answers are included at the end of the powerpoint.

Thursday:

Maths: We are continuing with decimals and writing hundredths. Remember to use your place value to help you. Answers are included at the end of the powerpoint.

Friday (Bank Holiday - optional learning):

Maths: We are continuing with decimals and writing hundredths. Answers are included at the end of the powerpoint.

Spellings:

Practise your spellings daily using one of the activities from our school's spelling approach. A spelling test will be set on Friday through Purple Mash.

Science:

This week, you are going to learn about evaporation. Read the information and if you can – try the experiment at home!

Topic:

Our topic is called ‘Save our Planet! Water is a big part of our everyday lives – we are very lucky to be able to have access to clean water. Do you know where your water comes from? Go through the information on the powerpoint and have a go at making your own filter to clean water! Have fun!

PSHE and wellbeing: 

Positivity – what does this word mean? What does it remind you of? Is this a quality that you have seen from someone else? Can you think of some times when you have shown positivity?

Can you start a positivity journal – write down the positive things from your day! 😊

VE day:
On Friday we celebrate 75 years since the ending of the Second World War. Here are a few ideas of activities you could do for this special day!
