Welcome to Year 2
We hope you had a wonderful summer break.
We have an exciting term ahead with our topic ‘Journeys.’ Throughout this term we will be learning about the Local Area and how it has changed over time. We will be drawing lots of maps, including our journey to school and we will be thinking about how we can take more responsibility of our School and the Local Area.
Later on in the term, we will be taking a school trip to Brooklands Museum (details to follow shortly).
Our Science topics this term are Materials and Animals including Humans.
Children will be set homework every Friday to be completed by the following Friday. The children will have weekly spellings and Maths homework that links to the week’s learning. Please support your child as much as possible with their homework and if you have any questions please write in your child’s reading record.
It is very important that children read at home on a regular basis and this needs to be recorded in their reading records and sent back to school on a daily basis.
P.E days are Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure that all school uniform is named including PE kits. They will require tracksuits and trainers when the weather becomes cooler for PE lessons outside. PE kits need to come in on a Monday and will come home on a Friday.
Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day.
Show and tell will be under a rotation and your child will be informed on the week they can bring in show and tell. This information will also be displayed on the window. Please can you ensure show and tell comes into school on Monday as they will be shown throughout the week.
At home times, children cannot be released from our care unless we have seen the adult collecting the child from school. To ensure the safety of the children please inform us if your child is being collected by a different adult to usual. This can be written in your child’s reading record book.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year and I am happy to meet with you if there are any particular issues you would like to discuss.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Miss Payne and Mrs Crammond.
